Roof-terrace in the historical centre of Moscow
Russian architect Daria Vasilkova has transformed her terrace on the roof of the famous historical residential building on Serafimovicha, 2 (just face to Kremlin) into a green veranda with barbecue where balinese boat neighbours vintage chairs and iron barrels.

The open terrace on the 12th floor is literally an organized roof space based on two levels with streaks on the concrete walls, rusty banisters and tens of square-meters of grey aluminium sheets of the roof landscape around.

We decided to keep the street format of the veranda and transform it into easy-concept space both adopted for business breakfasts on the first level and sunset parties with barbecues on the second where the view offers a 360 degree panorama. While realizing the design she followed a few principles:

Seasonal green decoration. Russian plants grow here in iron barrels, old plastic cases and a vintage balinese boat dynamically placed on the stair from the first to the second level. Small birches, cereals, sunflowers and grass mark nature's accent on the city landscape of Kremlin, Christ the Saviour Cathedral and the huge monument of Peter the Great on the Moskva River.

The choice of furniture was dictated by the desire to create a design that can tell a story. Soviet and European vintage chairs and armchairs of different styles and ages go harmoniously together since they offer an easy-going lifestyle that prefers random choice of furniture from family stores to any concrete style. The same principle is used for setting. Pols Potten plates match Soviet dishes united by basic colors: white, orange and blue - the colors of warm early fall.

The furniture is added by home textile accessories that are 100% upcycling. Mermaid and Baby-mermaid - cushions and interior toys are made from ex-jeans, vintage Pavloposadskie carrees and clothes from second-hands.
