“CARPET” is a collection of tiles by Reda, a collaboration between designer Daria Vasilkova and illustrator Daria Rostovtseva.

“Tradition meets innovation” is one of the key messages of the Reda brand. This principle is not only about the choice of materials but also about the approach to creating collections. A CARPET is an interior item that never goes out of style. But a CARPET in the USSR was more than an accessory; it was a tradition, an interior item where East meets West. We followed tradition but offered it an innovative execution.

Our CARPET will not collect dust because it is ceramic. Thanks to a thoughtful design, the CARPET will fit any space, both small and large—it can be assembled like a construction set.

The collection will be especially relevant where it is not practical to lay CARPETS but one would like to add coziness—in kitchens, country houses, and dachas.

In the prints of “CARPET”, one can see references to other Reda collections: Fruit Forest, NATURE IS ALIVE, and even Aliens. The collection consists of 50 unique prints, divided into two parts: “Dream One” and “Dream Two,” which make up two square meters of tile. The buyer can choose one of the “Dreams” sets, but not a specific print. The uniqueness of the collection lies in the fact that the tiles do not need to be specifically joined with each other to obtain a complete image of a particular character. Like fragmentary elements of a dream or a memory, the prints create an image where the main thing is not completeness, but mood.

Dreams “trigger” the work of the subconscious, allowing memory to latch onto both characters of the Russian fairy tale and fragments of architectural and decorative styles encountered in trips through Russian cities and familiar to us since childhood.

The variety of elements is united by a monochrome blue-and-white palette, inspired by the Portuguese azulejo technique, which looks organic and impressive in an interior, accentuating the use of tile. Thus, conceptually, the collection goes beyond the scope of the Russian style to a European level.

The ironic collection “Heroes and Totems” continues the idea of “Soviet Sport”: the same principle of combining two tiles to obtain various characters. The “Heroes” of the collection are a family: mom, dad, and two daughters, who play and tell each other their fantastic stories. Each hero has their own totem: a dolphin for dad, a mermaid for mom, and a unicorn for the girls.

Faces of deities from ancient civilizations and aliens — are they not the same characters? We have combined them in one collection, simplifying them into basic mask-patterns. A vibrant collection that is perceived holistically as geometric, but upon closer acquaintance, tells a fantastic story.
